Year 2021 was observed as the year of the pioneer, activist, artist, intellectual Charlotte Maxeke being the first black woman in many spaces she operated in, she understood that for meaningful representation of women, she needed to rally them to amplify their voice in the struggle.
This whole project started in 2018 which was also a year of Mama ALBERTINA SISULU a political activist, nurse and community activist and also one of the high-profile leaders of anti-apartheid resistance.
As a women organisation, eSigodlweni seziNdlovukazi WHICH KWAF is an affiliate started to observe 2018 as 62 years since the 1956 women’s march. This famous march dubbed “Women’s Anti-Pass Law Campaign” is celebrated and commemorated through a national public holiday in South African the 9th August of every year. The Queens of Excellence is the result of those women resilience. As women belonging to the palace of the Queens, we are saying “If they did it in 1956 and succeeded, women of today can do it as well”
